We were simply merciless in ending our 6-match winless streak with a resounding win over one of our closest arch rivals - Seafoodies. Our fear of our usual weakness - collapsing in the 2nd half - happened to them instead. Nobody would have imagined the outcome given that our past encounters have been keenly-contested and close affairs, and especially with the 1st half ended at 1 apiece. At the break, we trooped off the pitch thinking it was one of those days where luck deserts us. Gan hit the goal frame twice, KH fluffed a sitter in front of open goal, YC had an effort cleared off the line.
Teck Wah ended his nearly 3 months of goal drought with a hat-trick, and YC, KH and Weng Khong found the net as well. We could have scored more but it was almost the same story in the 2nd half - Teck Wah's turn to miss the open goal, Seafoodies' left-back bravely cleared Weng Khong's left-foot effort off the line, Gan failed to beat the out-of-position keeper.
Whilst we were rampant upfront, our defenders were tight at the back, and Brandon was not really tested. The win restored the smile on our faces. Overdue indeed.
